My Assignment

Hey everyone! As you all know, I am not very good at all of this techi-computer-blog stuff, so please bear with me! After eight months, and a few changes in plan, I have finally received my invitation to serve in Fiji as a health volunteer. I will be working on the Community Health Empowerment Project (CHEP). According to the information I was sent in my invitation packet, the Peace Corps is working with the Government of Fiji to "reduce the incidence of non-communicable diseases", which has been declared a crisis in the Pacific. I leave for staging on September 4th and I begin my Pre-Service training (in Fiji) on September 6th. My dates of service are September 2012 to November 2014 (I will be home in time for the third Christmas, which my mom is very happy about!) I have 75 more days to go (10 weeks, 5 days)!!! In the meantime, I will be spending as much time with friends and family as possible and teaching myself Fijian and Hindu (the languages spoken in Fiji).
